Irish Moiled (ROI) National at Tullamore Show
The Irish Moiled (ROI) National once again returned to Tullamore Show with an exceptional line up of Irish Moiled animals out on display, judged by Robert Davis of the Ballyvesey herd based in Templepatrick, Northern Ireland.
Killua Sarah, a homebred maiden heifer, exhibited by farm manager Anthony Gilsenan for Killua Castle, Kells, Co. Meath had everyone talking about her, she was the full package, eye catching, very stylish, correct and full of breed character, it may be her first taste of success, but it is in her genes following in the footsteps of her sire Ravelglen Rocky who previously won the (ROI) IMCS national breed championship in 2023. Ravelglen Rocky, bred by Brian O’Kane, of Martinstown, Co. Antrim is the main stock bull of the Killua Castle herd, but also semen is available from him in the IMCS A.I. catalogue.
Killua Castle had an exceptionally successful day as they also lifted the reserve championship with their homebred heifer calf, Killua Abnooba, sired by Macmann Croker another A.I. bull available through the IMCS. Success did not stop there for Killua Castle when they had a total of 3class winners on the day when their new junior stock bull Ravelglen Earl also won the bull class.
Joe Boyce and family from Kilmallock, Co. Limerick were the winners of the cow class with Beechmount Lizzie 2, bred by Robert Boyle of Millisle. This 2nd calver was the 2022 IMCS (ROI) National champion at Tullamore and Reserve Champion in 2023.
Sisters, Anna-Rose and Shauna Gleeson put their best foot forward and not once did they take their eye of their calf or judge and justifiably won champion young handler and runner up.
