Lisnolan Irish Moiled Herd, County Mayo
Sean Hyland owner of the Lisnolan Irish Moiled herd spent a busy few days washing, clipping and halter training his two entries for inspection for the upcoming Irish Moiled Magnificent Moilie sale in May 2021. “Sure, why not give it a lash” is Sean’s comments. “It has been a good few years since I have last showed” and says ” If it wasn’t for his Lisnolan Mobile Farm Petting venture he would be still at it “It’s an addiction the show ring!! I thoroughly enjoyed that time and it has certainly stirred up memories of getting cattle ready and the anticipation of how they would do” Hopefully it is only around the corner when we can safely head out to shows again”.
The online timed auction taking place through Harrison & Hetherington is a great opportunity that the Irish Moiled Cattle Society are providing to breeders like myself especially in these times. The advantage of the online sale is the catchment area of buyers and the cattle never have to leave the farm until they are sold.
Lisnolan Farm is based in County Mayo. They keep several native Irish breeds of farm animals, helping with the conservation and protection of these wonderful indigenous farm animals. They are keen to support Irish Rare Breeds. Alongside their farm enterprise, Sean has an AI and bovine scanning business and a mobile farm petting service.
Sean first got into Moilies in 2016.”They work for me because of the low input and labour requirements. I would love to show more cattle, but it clashes with the Mobile pet farm.
I will continue to explore and increase my Irish Moiled herd numbers and use the best Irish Moiled genetics to continue to improve my herd.”
