Irish Moileds make an impression at Balmoral

The sun shone and the crowds flocked to Balmoral and so did the Irish Moiled exhibitors with an excellent entry of top quality cattle. Breeders received complements over the whole 3 days on the excellent quality of all the cattle and how well turned out they were.

This year’s judge Christopher Ball from Staffordshire declared it, ‘A great day and a privilege to judge all the excellent cattle’ and he certainly was challenged to place such tight competition particularly in the Maiden heifer class with 10 excellent entries, showing what quality animals are waiting in the wings for future years.

Top honours, Breed Champion went to Tommy Jackson, Saintfield of the Milltown herd with his Senior bull Macmann Apple, (see front cover) a great achievement for this young and relevant newcomer to the breed. Congratulations must also go to Robert and Linda Davis on being awarded Reserve Champion with their 3rd calving cow Ballyvessy Palm.

It wasn’t just showing cattle Irish Moilie breeders where involved in this year, the launch of Irish Moilie Beef with Bruces Hill Cattle Company took place on the Wednesday, with further tasting sessions over the 3 days.

The Irish Moilie beef went down a storm with both the fresh meat and the burgers from Bruces Hill Street Food vehicle selling out! A competition was held to win Irish Moilie beef vouchers via our promotional leaflet.
